We've just come back from Bernard Newbury's , where Simons car was having the interior finished . Bernard did his usual excellent job , and made up a perfect square weave carpet set , and white perforated headlining . Simon is chuffed , to say the least .

For Sale

For sale - One pair of authentic 1960s magnesium alloy American Racing Equipment, 3.5" x 15" 12 spoke spindle mounts, fitted with disc brakes, using small single pot Willwood calipers. Mounted on CB link pin dropped spindles via specially machined early Ford pattern spindles.
Only need to be fitted to your stub axle carriers, to bolt directly to your early Beetle.
They have never been fitted to any car since they were converted for street use, so all parts are as new.

The disc conversion and spindle adaptation was carried out by a well known UK Hot Rodder, who has done several sets of these wheels, for use on Hot Rods, where they have to carry a lot more weight than a Beetle. All have been trouble free for many road miles.

The wheels themselves are in very good condition, and have aged nicely with the unique grey coating that you only get with real magnesium parts. They look very little like the fake, ten spoke bolt on jobs that were recently produced. If you think these are a bit pricey, then consider this. A pair of 4.5" Fuchs (which are common in comparison) seem to run around 900 quid nowadays – a CSP disc kit is 720 pounds - drop spindles are around 215 pounds, which adds up to 1835 pounds.

To the best of my knowledge, these are the only street legal set of ARE 12 spokes to directly fit a Beetle in the world. The only other way to get them to fit your car is to fit a beam axle and early Ford stub axles. And you don´t want that!

Price now 1550 pounds ono.

Ivan's 67

Today , Randy removed Ivan's engine and box , the gearbox is getting a little tired , and a bit crunchy in 3rd gear , after many years of Burnouts and general Hi-Po Hot Vw abuse . Ivan is dropping it into The Cogbox ( the original builder ) , for a general freshen up and rebuild .

Large's 66

As we have swapped from solid mounts to CB Polyurethane mounts , we are now using a traction bar , for additional engine support . This has now been fitted . I am just waiting for a hairline crack in one of the manifolds to be repaired today ( solid mounting casualty ), then we can start the beast .
