JG54 Greenhearts

The JG54 'Green Hearts'* are a club for hardcore Cal-Look Volkswagens. Cars in the club must run quicker than 15.99 seconds in the 1/4 mile. The original JG54 '* Grünherz' were the elite Messerschmitt squadrons in World War II. Some of the highest scoring flying aces were in the JG54. This Blog shows the JG54 club cars and other cal-look inspired pictures/comments... MAC USERS PLEASE USE SAFARI TO VIEW SITE... . FOR MORE PICTURES - CHECK THE ARCHIVES (TO THE RIGHT)...

The Devil's In The Detail !

I decided at the same time as fitting the beam to Ivan's 67 , to make sure that the spindles , caliper brackets , and trailing arms , were up to the same standard as the front beam Alex ( Defcon3 ) had made for Ivan .

So we sanded the trailing arms , back to shiny metal , prepped the spindles and other parts , and etch primed and 2 pack blacked the lot , much tidier .

Before Shot

Ivan's car , before ' Dorking ' , with 67 Simon posing , looking contented after a days hard polishing Ivan's awesome 67 . The car did not have the drop spindles fitted here , as they increased the track even further .

Ivan's 67

Ivan's super nice 67 , in for some front beam ' Dorking ' , due to it's previous guise as a Ben Hur chariot lol . Alex Taylor from Defcon3 owner of ' The Black Bitch ' 67 , fabricated a 3.5 Inch ' Dorked ' beam , with clearenced shock towers so no bodywork mods are necessary .

Drop spindles are now used , to give a super smooth ride , with no tyre rubbing as before .

Moviestar Action!

Mr Steven Mortimer in a rare static shot! Car is usually seen ripping along at Warp Speed 9!

56 Rag...

Seen here is the rag when it was owned by Tom, to the left you'll see Tim C's 63 being built up as well.

Fast forward 7 years!

7 years later and the car still looks incredible. Seen here on OG Burners... lovely... Neal has made a few changes to the car recently, including a new steering wheel to go in...

Blast from the past!

This is Neal's 56 rag back in 2000 at the VolksWorld Show. Back then it was owned by Tom Silsbury. The muffler may look a little dated now, but was styled on Bernie Newbury's Oval - now owned by club member Max. Check the build up of this awesome car on the Funkenblitz site HERE

Alex "Too Old" Spring's new Greenhearts club car. It's a 57 Oval with 2276cc, this car is an ex VolksWorld magazine feature car, show winner and DRKC car from the USA... mmm which one could it be! Well done to Alex on an uber cool purchase! Dust off those cobwebs and get ripping!
